[edit] Conventions as Category Pages

At the Rabbit wiki, rather than make "article page" similar to this help page for conventions, we instead use wiki "category pages" to store convention specifics like planning, event reports, and general advice (see the Origins category page for an example).

The reason for this procedure is that it makes it far simpler for Rabbits to designate the conventions which they attend: they need only add code in the format "Category:CONVENTION_NAME" (no quotes) to their User pages to list themselves as attending a convention. Then, one need only click on a convention category page link to see an up-to-date list of all Rabbits attending that convention. This paradigm makes it so that Rabbits need only maintain their User pages, unless they are Rabbit Coordinators and are therefore maintaining the convention category pages for those conventions which they coordinate.

Soon, we plan to have a badge system that lets Rabbits place little badges on their User pages to not only beautify them but also to be automatically added to the associated categories (i.e. every badge will have a category embedded into it, to make it automatic). Those badges will be used to "tag" Rabbits as convention attendees, for games that they demo, for their Warrens, as being Retailers, and even for their locations in the world.

[edit] Normal Convention Article Pages as Redirects

To make it possible to find the category page with a basic search, make an article page with the con's name and have it only redirect to the category page. For example, the Origins article page only has "#redirect [[:Category:Origins]]" (no quotes) on it; anyone who clicks on a Origins article page link (just "[[Origins]]," not "[[:Category:Origins]]") automatically is redirected straight to the Origins category page.
