[edit] Running a Treehouse Tournament?

You will need the following equipment:

4-8 Treehouse sets
40 victory stones
a deck of index cards and pens (if doing the Triple-T Tournament)

[edit] Preliminary Tournament Rules

Official games must have at least three players, with no more than five in any one game. If there are fewer than 16 players playing in the tournament, you should use these rules.

The referee will also provide a victory token for the game, which will be placed in the center of the table. As soon as one person wins, that person collects the victory token. As soon as a player collects two victory tokens, that player advances to the next round of the tournament. As soon as someone gets two tokens, that player must stop playing, and wait with the other finalists, for the start of the next round.

After each game, some players will change tables for their next match. During the first round, players who arrive late have to wait until there are enough players to begin an official game. They will begin the game once the table has enough players. Once all the tables are done, the first round ends and some of the players are moved to different tables. Then, the second round begins. No players can be added once the second round begins.

When someone drops out after a game with only 3 players, the remaining players will need to wait until another game ends and then shuffle players so as to keep the number of players in each game between 3 and 5.

The tournament will consist of the following phases:

1.) Preliminary Round: The first 4 people to get 2 victory tokens will advance to the Finals.

2.) Finals: The finalists will play 4-person games of Treehouse until someone gets 2 victory tokens. That player wins the tournament.

[edit] The Tornado Treehouse Preliminary Tournament (Triple-T)

This format should only be used from tournament with 16 or more players.

Official games must have at least three players, with no more than five in any one game.

Each player is given an index card with their name on it and/or the lab number on it. Each table for the tournament is assigned a letter.

There are four ten-minute rounds. The first person in each table to make their tree look like their house scores five points. The second player scores four point, the third player scores three points, fourth scores two. If the table doesn't "play out," the table scores three if there are three players left and 2.5 if there are two.

After each game, each player will write down their score on their notecard and their table letter. Some players will change tables for their next match. During the first round, players who arrive late must wait until there are enough players to begin an official game. They will begin the game once the table has enough players. Once all the tables are done, the first round ends and some of the players are moved to different tables. Then, the second round begins. No players can be added once the second round begins.

At the end of the fourth round, all of the cards are added up. The top four scores make it to the final round. If there's a tie, there will be a playoff for the open spots.

The finalists will play 4-person games of Treehouse until someone wins two games. That player wins the tournament.

[edit] The Tournament Finals Rules

The winners of the preliminary tournament will play in an ironman match. The match begins with a victory stone in the middle of the table. The winner takes the stone and a new stone is placed in the middle of the table. The next game can begin. At the end of the first hour of play, if one player has three more victory stone than any other finalist, he or she is declared the winner. If nobody is declared, the finalists play until one finalist has three more victory stone than any other finalists or until another hour has passed. At the end of two hours, the last game is played out and the one with the most victory stones wins.

[edit] The Treehouse Cup

The Treehouse Cup is awarded at the end of the Treehouse Tournament that is held during Origins. The 2010 Treehouse Cup will be the fourth time the cup has been awarded.
