[edit] Volcano Tournament Rules

Note - prepare several boards in advance so that play may begging promptly.

1.) Games for this tournament will be played in accordance with the rules for Volcano as published in Playing with Pyramids, and as amended by whatever additional rules are listed below.

2) Swiss-style pairing is recommended for tournament play, software is available on the lab net book.

3.) Set up the board with a randomized arrangement of pyramids, and put the caps on the designated color nests (usually red).

5.) Flip a coin to see who goes first.

A note on game lengths........in a two-hour tournament, 16 or less players allows for 25-minute games, whereas more than 16 players should utilize 15- minute games. This allows for a reasonable amount of rounds and a little time for a final "play-off" if there is a tie among the top two players.
