Some helpful pages:

Jacob Davenport has posted lots of good material on running a Zendo tournament.

Eric Zuckerman adds these notes:

1. We don't use the G8 timers, but impose a general standard of subjective reasonability at both the player level and the game level.

2. We don't actually increment the difficulty of the rule until after the 2nd round (when all the players who are still in are so because they've won at least one game).

3. Sometimes, when a 2-player table makes the numbers work better, we will have a 2-student table. (This one actually goes back to the first tournament.) -- similarly, a 4-student game may also be used.

4. When we have an appropriate number of students [2 or 3 or 4] left to comprise a table for a final, we play one winner-take-all game. (i.e., much like the IIT, your pre-final play gets you to the Finals, and then the slate is wiped clean.
