[edit] EcoFluxx
- Q: Can you Camouflage one thing at a time, or one thing per turn?
- A: One thing at a time. It is NOT cumulative.
- Q: Poison protects your other Keepers from being eaten. If you have Poison and Fish and someone else has Bears, they cannot win with the Bears Eat Fish Goal. But what if you have the Predator, the Prey, and the Poison? Can my Poisonous Bears Eat Poisonous Fish For The Win?
- A: Sorry, Poison makes ALL of your Keepers poisonous, so you cannot win if you have Poison and the Keeper you want to eat is one of your own.
[edit] Star Fluxx
- Q: The special powers of the Unseen Force, the Captain, etc, say they can be used once per turn. Is that once per YOUR turn, or once per anyone's turn?
- A: Once per YOUR turn.
- Q: Can you attach two Creepers to the same Keeper? For example, an Evil Malfunctioning Teleporter?
- A: Yes.
- Q: Does Evil cause the Keeper that it's attached to not to work?
- A: No. (If that were the case, the card would say so.)
- Q: If the Doctor has Brain Parasites, can he cure them?
- A: No. In general, Brain Parasites don't inhibit their host Keeper's power, but in the case of the Doctor, he cannot treat himself, because Brain Parasites within his own brain won't allow him to do that to them. As the card says, he can only discard Brain Parasites if attached to one of your *other* cards."
- Q: When I play Creeper Re-assignment, I pick the creeper's new owner and they pick its new keeper to attach to, right?
- A: No. The player who played the Creeper Re-assignment action also chooses what Keeper the Creeper re-attaches to.
- Q: If someone plays Beam Us Up, and one player had a being with Brain Parasites attached, what happens?
- A: The Brain Parasites ride up the beam with their host to someone's hand. But a Creeper can never be in your hand, so the Creeper is then immediately played as such by that player. The Brain Parasites then hang around as long as it takes for a new host to show up to attach to.
- Q: If Wormhole is in play, your "free" draw is a Creeper, and your redraw is also a Creeper, do you draw yet again (and keep drawing until you draw a non-Creeper)?
- A: Yes, you keep drawing until you get a non-Creeper.
- Q: If something is played where "your turn ends immediately," (e.g. Get On With It!, or Brain Transference) does it mean that you are not subject to the hand and Keeper limits that turn?
- A: No. Hand and Keeper Limits apply to you when it's not your turn, so you would observe them as soon as your turn ends. Similarly, if you get a card when it's not your turn, you must observe the hand limit as soon as you get the card.
- Q: If someone plays a Rule to replace an existing Rule, but someone else plays a Veto, does the rule that was replaced remain in effect? (For example, Play 3 is in effect at the start of a turn, the current player plays Play 4, but another player plays Veto - what is the current play limit; 3, 4, or the default 1?)
- A: The new New Rule is canceled, so the old New Rule stays in play.
- Q: Say I have a Robot with Evil attached to it. If my girlfriend plays the Holographic Projection and then the Robot Uprising Goal, does she win? In other words, does the Hologram count as both the Keeper and the Creeper at the same time?
- A: Yes. Your girlfriend wins. Think of an attached Creeper as being simply an aspect of its host Keeper, something that transforms the whole rather than just riding on top. The Holographic Projection copies the whole thing, and if that's all you need for victory, you win.
- Q: Does the Cute Fuzzy Alien Creature count towards a Keeper Limit? It moves at the end of your turn, and you have to follow the Keeper Limit when its not your turn, so does the alien count as one of your keepers when you have to discard down?
- A: No. It moves at the end of your turn, which is still part of your turn. Then, after it's totally not your turn anymore, you must discard to meet all posted limits.
- Q: The Computer says to "draw and play one extra card per turn." Is that optional?
- A: No.
- Q: If you play an action that lets you steal the Captain, can you immediately use the Captain's special power to steal another crew member? If yes, suppose you steal the Scientist. Can you immediately use his special power to steal, say, the Energy Crystals?
- A: Yes and yes.
- Q: Player #1 plays a goal that would win him the game. Player #2 plays Canceled Plans. Player #1 contends that he won the game because the rules say that as soon as a goal is achieved the game is over and no other actions/cards can be played. Player #2 says that no, the Surprise card overrides the general rule and cancels the playing of the goal and therefore the game does not end. Which is true?
- A: Player #2 is correct. That's the whole point of the card. That's the meaning of "thus stopping it from being used." It prevents victory.
- Q: Player #1 has Holographic Projection in play. Player #2 has a keeper card needed for a particular goal. Player #3 has the other keeper card needed for that goal. When Player #1's turn comes around again, does player #1 win because of Holographic Projection?
- A: No. The Hologram can only be one keeper at a time.
[edit] Promo Cards
- Q: When using Promo Cards and Family Fluxx cards, can the Fruit Tree or any of the other trees count as The Tree?
- A: Yes. They also count as Trees in EcoFluxx!
- Q: What about the Andy Looney promo card? He counts as the Brain, but couldn't he also be considered a Friend?
- A: In Zombie Fluxx, Andy should be treated as a Friend, but NOT as Brains.
- Q: When the Pandora's Box promo card is played and you are turning to get three new rules, and the Radioactive Potato Creeper comes up, do you have to take it or does it go into the trash?
- A: Any Creepers you draw while dealing with the Pandora's Box action must be kept by the player who played the Action.
- Q: When you play The Computer promo card, do you instantly get another draw and another play?
- A: Yes.
- Q: The Computer promo card says it "counts as an Appliance." Does this mean it counts as Television for the purposes of the goal "Brain No TV"?
- A: No. The Computer counts as either The Toaster or The Television, but ONLY for the purposes of the goal "The Appliances."
- Q: Can you win with All You Need Is Love if you have Love and the Flowers promo, which counts as Love?
- A: No. You could win with Love, or with Flowers, but not both. To win with AYNIL, you must have exactly 1 Keeper.
- Q: Suppose you start a turn without Inflation and play Pandora's Box. The third rule you turn up is, sure enough, Inflation. What is more immediate, the Rule or the Action? In other words, does the playing of Inflation close the Box, so to speak; or does it affect the Box, meaning you have to draw to a fourth rule?
- A: It goes to 4. Since everything happens immediately in Fluxx, Inflation is retroactively applied to the Action that caused it to be played. So yes, you'd continue to a fourth rule if Inflation came up during Pandora's Box. (Similarly, Draw 2 and Use 'em would instantly become Draw 3 and Use 'em if Inflation was one of the two cards drawn.)
- Q: The Composting says It's OK to look at the bottom card first. If Composting is in play in combination with Draw 4 how many of the discard pile's bottom cards may the player look at at a time?
- A: The player can look at the entire discard pile. There is no rule in Fluxx that prevents you from looking through the discard pile. In fact, if you look at Let's Do That Again! it says, "Anyone may look through the discard pile at anytime, but the order of what's in the pile should not be changed."
- Q: Does The Traitor still allow me to claim somebody else's victory even if I have other Creepers that prevent me from winning?
- A: Yes. The card states that "If another player meets the goal, you win instead of them." Meaning that you do not have to (and are not allowed to) meet any of the requirements to win. Most other creepers say "You cannot win if you have this unless the goal says otherwise", but can neutralized by something other than the goal (i.e. the sonic tranquilizer and Abduction chamber keepers, the silver lining rule and even the Important Human Creeper) so it makes sense that a creeper could allow you to win in the same fashion. This is unlike trying to meet the "All that is certain" goal while also possessing another Creeper. In that case, the other Creeper would prevent you from meeting the goal even though it allows for two other creepers.
- Q: How does The Traitor interact with the Silver Lining rule (or the Look on the Bright Side rule in Monty Python Fluxx or the Zombies Ain't So Bad rule in Zombie Fluxx)?
- A: All it means is that, in addition to winning INSTEAD of any other player, you can ALSO win yourself. Normally, you'd only be able to win through another player's victory, since the Traitor is a Creeper, preventing you from winning directly yourself. So all Silver Lining does is make it so that if any Goal is satisfied by any player, including you, you win. Without Silver Lining, if you fulfilled the Goal, you wouldn't win; you'd only win if someone else fulfilled the Goal. [NOTE: This is a reversal of the answer previously given to this question, which stated the Traitor player would tie with the other player who met the Goal. With the Traitor in play, no ties are possible.]
- Q: Does The Computer promo card count as the card with the same name in Star Fluxx?
- A: Yes.
[edit] Mixing Different Editions
- Q: Does Brains (from Zombie Fluxx) count as The Brain in standard Fluxx? And the reverse as well?
- A: Yes and Yes.
- Q: Does Sunshine from EcoFluxx count as Sun from standard Fluxx and vice versa?
- A: Yes.
- Q: How does the Monty Python New Rule One, Two, Five! interact with the standard Fluxx Inflation rule?
- A: They contradict each other. Since the Inflation rule changes all numerals (by adding 1) and One, Two, Five! also changes numerals (by changing 3s into 5s), these two rules just don't play nicely with each other. Therefore, if you add One, Two, Five! to a deck containing Inflation, and they both get played, the first of the rules played must be discarded when the second rule goes onto the table. (It's like when a Draw 5 rule is replaced by Draw 3.)
- Q: Is it even possible to win with The Cheese Shop while You Also Need a Baked Potato is in play?
- A: No, it's not possible to win during such a situation.
