[edit] Preparation

Last minute changes meant that Timothy and Karen were the only Rabbits in attendance. No Test Subjects joined us right at the start of the event, so I had a little time to prepare. I knew of some who were definitely coming so I wasn't too worried. I had a bright idea for using the Start the Clock Promo cards. I left a space for the name of the Test Subject at the top on the right, and then wrote the numbers 1-6 (I chose 6, well, just to see how it would go!) Each different game played would get an entry on the card, and when all six slots were filled, the Subject would receive a Party Pack Promo. Of course, because it's a Fluxx Party, each different version of Fluxx would count separately. This has the additional benefit that the Subject goes away with a nice list of the games they played, along with the reminder of Zombie Fluxx that's upcoming.

[edit] Playing games

[edit] Pylon

While waiting for some Test Subjects to arrive, Timothy and Karen played a quick game of Pylon, which Karen won. It occurred to me that one could play this using TreeHouse sets, one player using Rainbow, and the other using Xeno, as long as both players are familiar with the colours.

[edit] Giant IceTowers

We played some games of Giant IceTowers with Timothy's newly acquired Giant Pyramids. The first game was played by Timothy, Karen, Christian (an 11 year old boy) and Rebeca (one of the store staff). Although it was Karen's first game, she won. We played another game later, with Karen, Dawn, Gary, and Jody.

[edit] Giant TreeHouse

Several games of Giant TreeHouse were played, which seemed to be a bigger hit than IceTowers. Timothy only has four stashes of Giant Pyramids, but that's not a problem, as TreeHouse doesn't really need to have people have different colours. All the games that we played were a lot of fun, even if at one point Karen got frustrated at rolling Aim yet again, keeping her nice Tree unfailingly tree-like.

[edit] Family Fluxx

Well, of course, it's a Fluxx party, so we had to play some Fluxx! We started off with Family Fluxx, and those who had played regular Fluxx enjoyed the different cards, though the deck was a little small for the seven players we had for the game. We still enjoyed it though.

[edit] Fluxx

Playing with Timothy's deck, which includes many promo cards, was a lot of fun, especially with the combination of The Computer and Inflation causing plenty of head scratching. But in a good way. It was much enjoyed.

[edit] Aquarius

A quick sidestep into a game of Aquarius, played by Timothy, Jody, and Gary, with Karen helping out Christian. Several changes of goals later, and Christian and Karen won!

[edit] EcoFluxx

Dawn arrived, so she joined in EcoFluxx. This one lasted quite a while (long enough for Christian to get a little bit antsy) and in the end Gary won.

Back to some pyramids, with a quick game of Martian Chess, again with Karen helping Christian out. They seemed to make a good team, as they won this too.

[edit] Japanese Fluxx

Breaking out the Japanese Fluxx, we enjoyed another great version of the game. The art on this is just wonderful. The game ended very quickly, (Jody didn't even get a turn) so we played it again.

[edit] Spanish Fluxx

Spanish Fluxx came next, and once again, Jody doesn't get a turn, so we move on to the next version.

[edit] German Fluxx

The last version is of course German Fluxx, and ended quickly again, so we played one more time, and Jody went first to make sure she had one this time. In fact, she had several.

[edit] Finishing up

We went back to some Giant Pyramids so that the later-comers could get their cards filled, and earn their Party Promo Packs. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and Rebeca was happy with how things went (even though we were short of people). Happy enough to ask us to do another event at some point.

A few final thoughts. For this (small) size of group, six was a pretty good guess for the number of games required to get a Promo Pack. However, nine games (which is what has been the target in the past for Little Experiments is probably better with larger groups and more rabbits.
