[edit] Re: favicon.ico

-- might I suggest converting the BGG Rabbits microbadge, for consistency. Krisjohn 06:05, 30 June 2007 (PDT)

  • Thanks for the pointer. I converted it to .ico format and put it up. It's not showing up for me in Safari, but it is in Firefox; I'm wondering if it might be a caching issue, though I did clear my cache. Is it showing up for you? — λ 09:49, 30 June 2007 (PDT)
    • Works for me Krisjohn 16:27, 30 June 2007 (PDT)
      • is fine in forefox on Mac OS X, but isn't showing in Camino Timotab 08:39, 12 July 2007 (PDT)
        • OK, I reconverted the image, this time using Graphic Converter instead of ImageMagick. It's working for me in Safari now. Is it working for you everywhere? — λ 11:11, 12 July 2007 (PDT)
          • it's now fine in Safari for me too, but still not working in Camino. -- Timotab 14:25, 12 July 2007 (PDT)
            • Hm, I just tried it in Camino and it's working out for me. Did you make sure it's not a caching issue? Try reloading with Shift-reload to see if that's the problem. — λ 18:23, 12 July 2007 (PDT)
              • now it works fine. *shrug* —Timotab 05:53, 13 July 2007 (PDT)

[edit] Re: wiki conventions

My personal feeling on hierarchy/other similarities to Wikipedia is to follow the Wikipedia model. It works well as is, and people are familiar with it. It's also less confusing. After all, with a hierarchical model, would "Fluxx strategies" go as "Fluxx/Playing/Strategies" or "Strategies/Games/Fluxx"? You can still have a general strategies page which links to each individual game's strategy page.

In general, my feeling is if we ask "Wikipedia does it this way, should we do it the same way?" the answer should almost always be yes, for consistency's sake, unless there is a very compelling reason not to. Timotab 08:39, 12 July 2007 (PDT)

[edit] Game Rules on this Wiki

I, for one, do not thing we should be putting rules for games on this wiki if they are already covered at another site like Wunderland, LooneyLabs, or IcehouseGames. It defeats the purpose of hypertext links across the Internet, not to mention using up storage here and creating the possibility for out-of-sync issues (where a game rule is refined, say, at IcehouseGames.org but isn't copied here).

That said, I could see having games pages that do some of what is listed on the To Do article page:

  • Overview of the Game, Marketing Blurb - whatever is currently at LooneyLabs (which is not likely to change any time soon)
  • Pitch Ideas for demoers - more familiar and conversational ways to approach punters
  • How To Run Tournaments - or links to sub-pages, if there's a lot of tournament or game variations
  • Errata and Clarifications
  • Strategy - ONLY IF not already addressed elsewhere: in such case, just provide a link.

[edit] Treehouse (Example)

Treehouse is the exciting new pyramid game designed by Andrew Looney, the creator of the card game Fluxx.

For 2-4 players, each game last only 5-10 minutes - but you'll want to rack them up again and again each time someone wins.

Each player rolls the custom die to determine if they will TIP, SWAP, DIG, AIM, or HOP their Tree of three pyramids while they try to make them match the configuration of the shared goal called The House. Roll a WILD and you can change your own Tree or The House!

[edit] What to add to pages

I have been trying to add information to some of the stub pages. I've been working on some of the "less" popular games, including Q-Turn and Cosmic Coasters. Mostly I've been adding links to Wunderland pages for rules and information. However, as in the case of Cosmic Coasters, there is at least one Pieceniking project available for these games, in this case, Eeoyre's Cosmic Coaster tin. Should we a.) add links to these pages, or, if permission is obtained, b.) create a new page containing this information, just in case the original site is lost? Also, I was wondering just how much to add to these pages. Many of them look quite bare without any images on them, so should we, again with permission, add images from the Looney Labs website to "brighten" up the pages? Harper 01:55, 9 October 2007 (PDT)
