From RabbitWiki
Please hold off on adding game rules to the wiki until there has been a consensus that it is appropriate for this wiki. As all game rules are already maintained elsewhere, it is completely defeating the purpose of hypertext on the Internet. Please see the Main Page Talk for further reasons why it's a bad practice and to log your vote regarding making pages that duplicate IcehouseGames, Wunderland, or LooneyLabs pages. Thank you --David Artman 08:36, 1 August 2007 (PDT)
- Ah, no problem. I didn't realize that game rules belonged elsewhere.
- Is there a "How to use this wiki" type page? If not, do you think we could add it to the to do list, so that newbies like me don't make extraneous pages?
- Thanks for the heads up.--KDutton 11:52, 1 August 2007 (PDT)
- We are still hammering out the Main Page and To Do List pages which will provide proactive direction rather than leaving folks to decide for themselves what to do with the wiki. In general, you're better off following discussions (using Recent Changes) and the directions on the To Do List and Main Page before striking out on your own to extend the wiki's offerings.
- That said, you are free to do with it what you will (barring offensive or spam uses), and that freedom comes with an expectation of using best practices. In general, link before you copy; copy before you author; and author only what you really know. Establish page structures (using wiki-links) and open up discussion on your structure pages' Talk pages before going forward with actual content. In all activities, focus on what a Rabbit would need: to demo, to learn, to offer prize support, to promote Looney Labs in general. This site will be better as a repository of well-maintained cross-references and schedules than as a repository of static content (like rules).
- Of course, this is all my opinion; the group could decide otherwise... but I doubt they will on things like copying content from other, well-maintained pages. Have fun! --David Artman 12:39, 1 August 2007 (PDT)
